About me

I have always had a passion for talking with people about their feelings, therefore, working in a helping profession and becoming a counsellor has been a very natural fit for me. I believe that our health and wellbeing is strongly connected to our feelings and emotions, and how we are able to express them.

My interest in counselling has taken me all over the world.   I obtained my Masters of Human Services Counselling, from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia, I lived in Scotland and studied the Foundations of Counselling through Continuing Education at Edinburgh University and I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal. Returning to Toronto in 2006, I began working in the non-for-profit and community sector and completed the Level 1 Brief & Narrative Therapy program (The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre & University of Toronto, Faculty of Social Work).  I am a member of the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychotherapists and Psychometrists (OACCPP) and I have extensive experience working with children, youth, adults and couples. Using the concepts of counselling and psychotherapy interchangeably, I consider the work that I do to be both psychotherapy and counselling and I use different skills and methods depending on the person I am working with.

With the birth of my daughter in November 2011, I have developed a new passion for working with women and their families around pregnancy and childbirth (prenatal, labour, postpartum) and am excited to combine this with the counselling services I currently provide. As of January 2013 I will also be available for doula services for women and couples seeking birth and postpartum support.

Thanks for visiting my site, I am always happy to answer questions by phone or email.
Look forward to hearing from you.
